Ali is a youth with a dream of hidden treasure far, far away. Joining a caravan from Samarkand to Baghdad, he encounters faces and places different from his idyllic home in the sheep grazing meadows of Afghanistan. Face to face with merchants, robbers, dervishes and journeymen like himself, he begins to doubt the truth of his dreams. At a well, in the Persian desert, his path takes a turn. Will he decide that his is a journey of foolishness or will he see it as the adventure of his life? QISMAT or destiny is a story with many stories culled from The Thousand Nights & One Night, better known as Arabian Nights. Meet Aladdin and the genies of the ring and the lamp. Listen to the story of the Fisherman and the genie of the vase, and the faithful dervish who raises his hands in thankfulness for whatever comes his way. Hearken to the tale of the merchant whose greed turned him blind. Meet people you have never met before and let their stories take you on an adventure.
